I bought the gel topper to go with our new VHC Hybrid Mattress II just in case I found the mattress too firm. I've always preferred plush mattresses when buying the traditional type so wasn't sure what to expect. While the mattress was comfortable without the topper, we added it on after the 3rd night to test the difference and haven't taken it off since! Practicality wise, it does add depth to the mattress which helps keep the fitted sheet in place, but we also just love the added spongey and cool layer as we are both hot sleepers. I do have some design recommendations however: 1. The topper isn't the exact size of the mattress which means there's a bit of overhang. Once you have your bedding on, it's not noticeable, but just an observation. Not sure if there's a tolerance during manufacturing or our one is just a bit off. 2. The straps to loop under the mattress corners are useless. The minute you lift the corner to make/strip the bed, or just re-tighten the sheets, the strap just pops off. The mattress should really have some loops that the topper strap can be threaded through to truly keep it in place. I love having fresh sheets on the bed, and change them weekly, but making the bed is a bit of an annoyance because of this. It doesn't bother me so much that I wouldn't use it, or wouldn't recommend it to others, but the feedback may be useful and incorporated into future designs.

I have fibromyalgia which means all body pain which is worse in bed. This topper is a game changer for my pain and it does not have the over-reheating effect of other toppers that I have bought and had to discard. I just absolutely love this product. I stayed at a friends place who had this in her guest bedroom and I bought one on the first day back home. I never write reviews - for anything - but this has changed my life and my sleep quality. We ordered Valmori Mattress in a Box. It was good quality, but the Choice review stating that the mattress was Medium firmness instead of Valmori’s own site stating Firm, misled us. We had trouble getting comfortable until the Gel Foam Topper arrived. We now find the bed very comfortable, but we have had to buy KS fitted sheets, as the mattress itself is thicker than our 2 previous mattresses. With the additional thickness of the Topper, QS fitted sheets are unable to be used.
